At Greater Gallatin United Way, we are proud to spotlight our Community Impact Partner, Bienvenidos a Gallatin Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Spanish-speaking individuals and immigrant families through mentorship programs, children’s activities, and resource coordination. Through strong community collaboration, Bienvenidos works with local agencies to address barriers, foster community integration, and advocate for resources that help bridge the gap for Spanish-speaking residents.

One of their most impactful initiatives is the Youth Empowerment and Support Program, an after-school program focused on middle and high school-aged Spanish-speaking youth and immigrant families. This program addresses the challenges these youth face—academic disengagement due to language barriers, limited resources, and the trauma that often accompanies immigration and adaptation to a new culture. With research showing that trauma can lead to increased anxiety, depression, and academic struggles, Bienvenidos provides a supportive environment where youth can engage in structured activities that improve their emotional well-being and reduce stress.

The Youth Empowerment and Support Program offers a variety of resources, including transportation, educational materials, and interpreting services, to ensure accessibility for all participants. Regular outdoor activities and monthly adventures are designed to help youth connect with their new community, relieve stress, and stay engaged in school. These activities foster personal growth and community integration while enhancing their academic success and resilience.

The need for this program is growing rapidly, as the number of Spanish-speaking students in the district has increased by 150% in recent years. With over 400 students now enrolled, the program is crucial in supporting this growing population and addressing the gaps in the educational system that have yet to fully meet their needs.

Through their continued efforts, Bienvenidos a Gallatin Valley is making a significant impact on the well-being of Spanish-speaking youth and immigrant families. Their approach is helping to create a more resilient, inclusive community in Bozeman, where all youth have the support they need to thrive.

We’re proud to support the mission of Bienvenidos as they continue to empower and uplift the families and youth of Gallatin Valley. Their work is essential in creating a more inclusive and connected community.
