Celebrating National Wellness Month: Spotlight on Suffer Out Loud

In honor of National Wellness Month, Greater Gallatin United Way is proud to highlight our impactful partnership with Suffer Out Loud. This organization is dedicated to decreasing the stigma around mental health, lowering Montana’s suicide rates, and creating a supportive community across the state of Montana, where we can come together and Suffer Out Loud.

Montana’s suicide rate from 2011-2020 was 25.05 out of 1,000– nearly double the national rate. In rural areas, like Park County, the suicide rate reached 41.8. Montana has had 1 of the top 5 highest suicide rates in the U.S. for the past 30 years. The stigma surrounding mental illness often prevents individuals from seeking help, further exacerbating the crisis. Suffer Out Loud works to break down these barriers and foster an environment where mental health issues can be openly discussed and addressed.

Our partnership with Suffer Out Loud, supported by a Community Impact Grant, is crucial in expanding access to mental health counseling and their scholarship program. By working together, we are helping to make mental health resources more accessible and promoting a culture of empathy and support.

As we celebrate National Wellness Month, we encourage everyone to prioritize your well-being. Your support is essential in making a lasting difference.
