Dr. Kathryn Bertany has served as Chief Executive Officer of Bozeman Health since 2023. Dr. Bertany has 30 years of experience practicing medicine as a pediatrician and nearly 20 years of experience in hospital/health system leadership roles. Having moved to Bozeman in 2019, she most recently served as Bozeman Health’s interim president and chief executive officer, interim chief medical officer, and president of both Deaconess Regional Medical Center and Big Sky Medical Center.
Prior to joining Bozeman Health, Dr. Bertany was the administrator and executive medical director for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho, coming from Valley Medical Center—part of the University of Washington Medicine system in Seattle, Washington—where she was the chief medical officer. She started her clinical career with 10 years in private practice as a pediatrician in Princeton, New Jersey.
Dr. Bertany received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Columbia Business School. She completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Dr. Bertany and her husband, Ed, live in Bozeman as well as her mother, Patricia, and her adult daughter, Lex. They enjoy spending time as a family in Montana’s great outdoors year-round.
