2-1-1 Day

Montana 2-1-1: Connecting Communities on 211 Day

The 11th of February, known as 2-1-1 Day, is a nationwide event that acknowledges the critical role of the 2-1-1 helpline, an essential lifeline for many people. The helpline acts as a bridge, connecting individuals with crucial resources in times of crisis and during daily struggles. Asking for help can be hard, but the 2-1-1 helpline is there to make it easier, providing steadfast assistance, whether it's for food, housing bills, or other critical needs.

This year, the significance of 2-1-1 Day is amplified by the rising cost of living and increased mental health concerns in Montana. The 2-1-1 helpline, designated by the FCC as a beacon of hope, provides free and confidential support, linking individuals with resources to meet various needs.

In Montana, the 2-1-1 helpline service is managed by four non-profit organizations, and it covers a majority of the state, offering 36 out of 56 counties with round-the-clock access. The user-friendly montana211.org complements the helpline with online resources.

In Southwest Montana, our partners, Help Center Inc answers the call. Help Center 2-1-1, covering 13 counties in Southwest Montana, has witnessed a significant increase in calls in 2021, with a 41% rise compared to the average of the past five years. The dedicated team of trained staff and volunteers at Help Center 211 not only provides information about community resources but also serves as a vital support system for those in crisis, ensuring that no call goes unanswered.

Greater Gallatin United Way has been a steadfast supporter of Help Center 2-1-1, recognizing the critical role it plays in enhancing the health, education, and financial stability of individuals and families in our community. The unwavering commitment of GGUW aligns seamlessly with the core mission of 2-1-1 - to be there for individuals in their times of need.
